The University of Patanjali (UOP), located near the Himalayan foothills in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, is named after Maharshi Patanjali, the pioneer of Yoga philosophy. Established through Act No. 4/2006 and sponsored by Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust, UOP is recognized under Section 2F of the UGC Act, 1956, and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. Led by Yoga Rishi Swami Ramdev ji and Ayurved Shiromani Acharya Balkrishna ji, the University integrates modern education with the ancient Guru-Shishya tradition. It offers programs in Yoga Science, Naturopathy, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Psychology, Tourism, Music, Sports, and Allied Sciences. The fully residential campus fosters holistic development through daily Yoga practices and Yajnas. Its research arm, Patanjali Research Foundation, is a leader in Ayurveda and Yoga research. With world-class facilities and a strong sports culture, UOP students have earned national honors, including consecutive gold medals in woodball (2017–2023).
